Devotional – Week 8 – Day 3

Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to ourworks, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted to us in Christ from all eternity. (2 Timothy 1:9).

MAIN POINT: God Provides A Plan For Our Future!

You may start with a prayer like this:  Father God, we thank you for all that you have blessed us with and we ask that you be with us in our time with you.  Thank you for all that you are doing in our lives.  In Jesus name, Amen.

God has a plan and purpose for our lives, and there is nothing we can do to change them. Gods plan doesn’t change even though it seems like that through our eyes. God knows our every move even before we make them, so there is nothing we can do that will surprise God. Like it says in Proverbs 19:2 “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails”. His plans for us are
made long before we live our lives and He sees them through long before we
start them. God’s holy plans can not be earned but they are given to us through
his grace.

You may end with a prayer like this:  Father God, thank you for our time with you today.  We thank you for guiding us and for the plans you have for us.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional – Week 8 – Day 2

Jeremiah 1:5, God says “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.”

MAIN POINT: God Provides A Plan For Our Future!

You may start with a prayer like this:  Father God, we thank you for all that you have blessed us with and we ask that you be with us in our time with you.  Thank you for all that you are doing in our lives.  In Jesus name, Amen.

God is talking to Jeremiah and is saying that even before he was born he knew what he wanted to do with Jeremiah. He knew how he wanted him to look and act so he knew just how he wanted to make him. God knows all of us even before our mommies and daddies know us, even before they were born, he knew that we would be alive before Adamand Eve were created.  He knows us so well and He knows the purpose that He has given us in our lives.

You may end with a prayer like this:  Father God, thank you for our time with you today.  We thank you for guiding us and for the plans you have for us.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional – Week 8 – Day 1

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you a hope and a
future. Then you will call upon and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  (Jeremiah 29:11-13, NIV).

MAIN POINT:  God Provides A Plan For Our Future!

You may start with a prayer like this:  Father God, we thank you for all that you have blessed us with and we ask that you be with us in our time with you.  Thank you for all that you are doing in our lives.  In Jesus name, Amen.

God has a very specific plan for our lives and for our every day. His plans are to prosper us and not to harm us. Sometimes we have bad days and it’s hard to see how God will allow us to prosper through them, but we can only see a fraction of his plan.  Everything that happens in our lives has purpose, every gum we step on and every bus we take, everything that happens in our life, God is in control of
and His plans are always for our good.

You may end with a prayer like this:  Father God, thank you for our time with you today.  We thank you for guiding us and for the plans you have for us.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional – Week 7 – Day 1

This week we are focusing on the power of forgiveness and how important it is to apologize when we mess up and how we need to be able to ask for forgiveness from people and God.

Main Point:  God Provides Forgiveness When We Ask For It!

1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

It’s very important that we are honest with each other and that we admit when we’ve hurt someone.  It’s very important that we are honest with each other and that we admit when we’ve hurt someone.   We all make mistakes.  Sometimes we’re disobedient or sometimes we hurt someone’s feelings, but in the end it’s all the same, we know that we’ve messed up. At those moments, there’s nothing like a second chance. Thankfully, we serve a God who continually shows us grace and gives us second chances. In Luke chapter 15, Jesus explains God’s grace and willingness to forgive us by telling a parable about a son who left home.Forgiveness is a very powerful thing. It can even heal relationships that have been broken for years. We are incredibly blessed that God loves us and forgives us.

You can end with a prayer like this:  Dear God, thank you for our time together as a family.  I pray that I will always ask you and others for forgiveness when I mess up.  Be with me and my family always, Amen.

Devotional – Week 6 – Day 5

Romans 10:9

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Main Point: Salvation Only Comes From God!

According to this verse declaring that Jesus is our Lord is not enough for our salvation. It says that we have to believe with our hearts that God raised him from the dead. When we believe something with our hearts it makes it harder to act against our believes, anyone can declare that they believe in Jesus but not many people can say that they believe with their heart that Jesus is their Lord and savior.

This is a great time to explain to your children that salvation comes from Jesus alone.  Ask your children questions that they will understand about what it means to be saved.  Some questions you could ask are: Who is Jesus? Why did God send Jesus? Would you like to accept Jesus into your heart?

If your child would like to accept Jesus into their heart, please pray this prayer with them.  Have your child repeat this after you:  Dear God, thank you for who you are and for sending your son Jesus to die for my sins.  I ask you Jesus to forgive me for my sins and to live in my heart forever.  Thank you for dying on the cross and for loving me.  In Jesus name, Amen.

If your child decided to make this decision and pray this prayer then congratulations are in order and reassure your child that the decision they just made is the greatest decision they will ever make and that Christ now lives in their heart.

Devotional – Week 6 – Day 4

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that
whoever believes in Him will not die, but have eternal life.  John 3:16

Main Point: Salvation Only Comes From God!

God sent His son on our behalf because of the sin that plagues us.  We are lost without salvation through Jesus and the only way to God is through Jesus as we learnedin Day 1 through John 14:6.  God sent Jesus to save the world through Him. The Bible tells us that there is no judgment against anyone who believes in
Him.  God’s light came into the world, and those who do right and come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.

This is a great time to explain to your children that salvation comes from Jesus alone.  Ask your children questions that they will understand about what it means to be saved.  Some questions you could ask are: Who is Jesus? Why did God send Jesus? Would you like to accept Jesus into your heart?

Devotional – Week 6 – Day 3

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

Main Point:  Salvation Only Comes From God!

A wage is something that is deserved or earned.  What we deserve is a life separated from God.  A gift is something undeserved, but God’s great love allows us to live a life that will keep us in His presence.  Through Christ’s sacrifice on
the cross, sin was erased and now we can choose to accept the gift of
salvation.

This is a great time to explain to your children that salvation comes from Jesus alone.  Ask your children questions that they will understand about what it means to be saved.  Some questions you could ask are: Who is Jesus? Why did God send Jesus? Would you like to accept Jesus into your heart?

Devotional – Week 6 – Day 2

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other
name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12

MAIN POINT: Salvation only comes from God!

When Peter said this, he was explaining to the leaders of
the law that through Jesus there is no other way to be saved.  Peter and John were being questioned as to whose power or name they were performing healings and good deeds.  They explained that their power came by the
powerful name of Jesus Christ, whom they had crucified but that God had raised
from the dead and so it was with confidence and boldness that they explained
this, further impressing upon everyone that salvation comes through no one
else, but through Jesus.

There are many people and many religions in our world today
who claim that salvation can be found through many avenues, but the Bible tells
us that salvation only comes through Jesus and He alone is the only way to
Heaven.

Devotional – Week 6 – Day 1

Main Point:  Salvation Only Comes From God!

Bible Verse:  “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.’” (John 14:6 NLT)

As we celebrated Easter yesterday, we were reminded of the greatest gift God could ever give mankind…salvation that only comes from Him through Jesus!  What a remarkable event Easter is for those who believe in Christ, because of Easter, we have the gift of eternal life.

As we begin our sixth week of devotionals, we will start with John 14:6.  Our C-kids learned that salvation only comes from God.  There is no other way to get to heaven.  No one can get to God, except through Jesus and this is why he explained in the verse when he said that He is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the father except through him.

Explain to your kids that Jesus was born and lived a sinless life and then died on a cross and rose from the dead three days later so that we could be saved from our sins and be saved so that we could live in Heaven forever with God.  Remind your kids that salvation only comes from Jesus because He took the punishment of our sins when he was nailed to the cross.

God loves us so much that he sent Jesus on our behalf.  John 3:16.

Salvation is for everyone, but can only be secured by one – Jesus.

Devotional – Week 5 – Day 4

MAIN POINT: God provided Jesus to Lead and Guide Us!

1 Peter 2:21-24: For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you.  He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.  He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.  He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered.  He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

God wants us to do good, that is one of the reasons why he sent his son Jesus., to be an example for us and shows us what good is.  It says he never sins which means he never went against God.  He never deceived anyone, which means he never misled or lied to anybody.  It also tells us that he never retaliated or sought revenge.  He always forgave his enemies, so we should never retaliate physically, verbally, or emotionally.  Instead, we should do as Jesus did and leave our cases in the hands of God because he always judges fairly.  The bible tells us in Romans 12:19 that vengeance is God’s.
