Main Point: God Provides The Courage To Live For Him!
You may start with a prayer like this:
Dear God, thank you for another day. I ask that you be with us as we learn more about you. Bless our time as a family. Amen.
“This is my command be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”
“This is my command” Right off the bat, let your kids know that Joshua is giving a command not a request or recommendation.
“Be strong and courageous!” Strength in this sentence is not physical strength, it’s more of a strength in your faith. Courage is a spirit that allows us to face danger or fear. This part of the sentence is said with power and excitement.
“Do not be afraid or discouraged” If we act with our courage we will not be afraid. If we act with our faith we will not be discouraged. It is the power of God within us who allows us to be strong and courageous.
“For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” God is everywhere so how can he ever leave us? God will always protect us as long as our faith and trust is put in Him.
You may end with a prayer like this:
Dear God, thank you for our time with you today. I ask that you will always give us courage to follow and live for you. Thank you for our time with you today, Amen.
